Checklist: Care Of Siamese Fighting Fish
Taking care of a siamese fighting fish is fairly straightforward. But just to help with that here's a quick checklist outlining care of siamese fighting fish tips.|

Enough Room Contrary to what the person at Walmart may suggest, these shimmering, full-finned beauties need at least a gallon sized bowl. Two gallons would be better. 10 gallons better still. Avoiding distilled water and well water. Water temperature Counts Keep the water temperature ideally between 78-84ºF. Unless in a warm room that generally means you'll need a heater to keep their temperature consistently within that range. Temperature that change up and down are not good for any tropical fish. Betas included. |
Betta Tip:
Bettas are tropical fish. Unless your house is tropical temperature wise get a heater.
Water quality is vital too
. Fish waste and left over food can quickly foul the water poisoning your fish. If you've got 3 gallons or less change 100% of the water at least once per week using aged tap water of the same-temperature. Bigger aquariums can use the cycling technique. Meaning 20%-30% of the water should be changed once per week. Some do more. Some do less. But all replace some water every week.
Betta Tip:
Only use hot water to rinse out tanks!
Keep a lid on it.
That's' right. You want to cover their home in some way since some Siamese fighting fish are jumpers. But don't fill their tank or bowl all the way to the lid. They breath surface air too. Leave room for that.
